Quashed were the winners of Soda's first Seed Grant event last week. Their modern and innovative idea is set to achieve big things and pave the way for the future of insurance. The small business is creating a brand-new insurance experience, by “building the simplest, most transparent and trusted platform to help you protect the things that matter to you.”

Justin Lim, the founder of Quashed has created an online platform to simplify insurance for kiwis. Their app eliminates the confusion which comes from having multiple insurance policies, across a range of different insurance companies. The Quashed app makes every aspect of insurance easier to manage. Justin and his team were all set to be a part of this years NZ Startup Bootcamp, which was cancelled due to Covid-19. This led Quashed to Soda’s social platforms, where they came across the Seed Grant application.

“It was encouraging to have the idea validated by a panel of business leaders.” Justin felt that the format and process of how the event was run, was beneficial for his business. Pre-recording the business pitch allowed for fine-tuning and more time to prepare for the judges questions. The Quashed team enjoyed the rapid-fire Q&A style, as it was high energy and led to very targeted questions.

Justin is looking forward to progressing the business with the help of Soda, validating aspects of Quashed's business road map. The $5,000 grant will be used to further validate the app and drive user acquisition.
