Tell us about Maisey Harris & Co...

Maisey Harris is a truly modern accounting firm. We partner with you and your business to take the hassle out of tax compliance and help you grow your business so you can do more of the things you love.

How do you help business owners through the RBP programme?

We help clients through teaching them how to set one-page business plans with SMART goals and small actions to move them in the right direction. We then provide support and ongoing accountability to increase chances of success.

Do you have any top financial tips for startups and business owners?

Get good advice early. Create plans and goals – and have someone independent hold you accountable – this is the fastest, most supportive way to succeed. Oh and don’t forget to put money away for tax from early on! Create separate bank accounts for things like tax savings and holiday pay.

Are there any common mistakes business owners make when it comes to their finances?

People bury their heads in the sand. They don’t review their numbers regularly or at all. People get so busy doing the doing that they forget to spend some time on the business. Business owners should create regular time to review their numbers and work on the business.

What or who inspires you?

My family – I have two beautiful daughters and a great wife. I want to do my best for them.

What three things can’t you live without?

Golf, golf, and probably just more golf to be fair.

Best book, tv show or podcast you’ve enjoyed this year?

I read a book recently called Zero Negativity by Ant Middleton and took a lot away from it!

Favourite holiday destination?

Anywhere in the caravan with the family – we often go on a big trip each year around Christmas. This year we are heading up north to the Bay of Islands. My favourite local spot in the caravan is Taupo Holiday Resort.

What would you bring to a bbq?

A couple of my favourite bottles of red wine (or maybe a Pals in summer).
