Tell us about Hamilton Collision Repairs...

Our main focus is on repairing and refinishing vehicles, typically following damage from accidents or wear and tear. This may include a full respray of a vehicle if requested by a customer who is wanting a colour change or who has damaged paint work on their pride and joy.

What is your role in the business and what does it involve?

As the Managing Director, my role is primarily focused on overseeing the entire operations of the business, ensuring both efficient management and high-quality service. I am responsible for making key decisions, driving the business forward, and managing the day-to-day operations. This also includes being the first point of contact with customers and making the process of their vehicle repairs stress free.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Dealing with customers is one of the most fulfilling parts of my job. I value the direct interaction because it allows me to understand their needs better, which in turn helps us tailor our services more effectively. It’s a privilege to build strong relationships and deliver solutions that truly make a difference for our clients.

No two days are the same, and that’s something I really appreciate. The variety in challenges - whether it’s customer concerns, parts supplier issues, team coordination, or strategic decision-making. It keeps me on my toes and makes me feel like I'm constantly growing in my role.

Why did you apply for Regional Business Partner funding?

I applied for funding because I believe that bringing in expert guidance (which is exactly what BSP has to offer) will help accelerate the growth and efficiency of our business. As our small business continues to evolve, there are complex challenges and opportunities that require specialised knowledge, whether in areas like strategic planning, financial management, or operational efficiency. BSP provide valuable insights, identify potential risks, and help us make informed decisions that will drive long-term success. The funding enables us to access high-level expertise that would otherwise be difficult to acquire, helping us optimise performance, refine our business model, and ensure sustainable growth.

What did you enjoy about the training?

The open discussions and collaborative nature of the sessions. The training also allows our team to get involved and share ideas and challenges. Phil’s insights have helped us look at our day-to-day operations, marketing aspects and understanding our financial growth. I also appreciate how the training focuses on clear, actionable steps that are easy for the team to implement immediately, rather than abstract theory. Overall, this has already made a noticeable impact on our workflow and how we run on a day-to-day basis.

How has the funding been beneficial?

The funding has been incredibly beneficial for us as a small business. It has allowed us to access expert guidance that we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. The support has given us the tools and knowledge to make more informed decisions and improve our overall business operations.

Thanks to targeted guidance on several key training initiatives, we have not only streamlined operations but also enhanced our compliance with regulatory standards.

The outcome has been remarkable, with our end-of-year profit increasing by 3,000 per cent!

Additionally, we've expanded our team with a new hire to support our growth and have embarked on a rebranding initiative that aligns with our evolving business identity. These changes have set a solid foundation for our future, and we are eager to continue this trajectory.
