Last week Soda held a pitch night to select its latest Seed Grant winners with a prize pool of $9,000 to be claimed by aspiring Kiwi entrepreneurs or start-ups.

With more than 50 entries from around New Zealand and a talented pool of applicants, the Soda Judges couldn’t narrow it down to a top three so selected four deserving winners.

And the winners are…

Pickl – led by Alberto Martin, Ruwan Wickrama, Nishita D’Silva and Victor Rivera, this team is creating an app with the technology to fully digitise the process of getting a mortgage, making it easier and simpler to get a mortgage. Pickl won $5,000.

me-port – this new start-up by Kerwan Rose is the tradie version of LinkedIn where tradies can connect and store important documents such as industry certificates in one handy online place. Kerwan won $2,000.

MenuAid - Toby Skilton and Elise Hilliam’s MenuAid is a subscription service that provides Kiwis with a weekly meal plan, complete with recipes, nutritional information and a list of ingredients that can either be self-shopped, collected or delivered from your favourite supermarkets. They took home $1,000.

EasyRent - Toby Thomas-Smith has created EasyRent, an online marketplace to connect students with empty rooms throughout New Zealand and utilise these rather than have the rooms sit empty over summer months and holidays. Toby took home $1,000.

We’ll be sharing more about these exciting new start-ups soon.
