Who inspires you?
People that push forward human frontiers. It's different for every generation. 2000 years ago it was mostly warriors and statesmen, 1000 years ago it was priests and kings, 500 years ago it was explorers and philosophers, 250 years ago it was scientists and inventors, 100 years ago it was the industrialists, 50 years ago it was astronauts and aerospace engineers, 20 years ago it was computer geeks. Right now I think/hope we're moving into a new age of science and engineering.
What’s the best concert you've ever attended?
NZ Symphony Orchestra playing Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony in Napier.
If you could be any animal, which would you be and why?
I'm pretty stoked I'm a human. Otherwise, I'd be a dog because they think they are a human.
What’s your favourite business book/podcast?
Podcast: Masters of Scale by Reid Hoffman
Book: Zero to One by Peter Thiel or Principles by Ray Dalio
What are you passionate about?
Learning about human civilization, our history, how we operate, and the universe we inhabit. In short, learning why things are as they are and finding a way to add my teeny bit to all the progress we've made so far.
What’s your favourite movie?
Favourites include Interstellar, 2001 a Space Odyssey, The Lion King, Lord of the Rings.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
I was a "One Man Band" for a bit. I had a kick drum and a hi-hat on my back, a guitar, harmonica, kazoo, and my voice. Was great fun!
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
I don't watch Netflix.
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been before, where would it be?
I'd love to visit places like HMS Victory, Krak des Chevaliers, or the ruins of Babylon.
Which four people, living or dead, would you most like to eat dinner with? What kind of dinner party would it be?
I have no idea where the discussion would go but I bet it would be epic.
