What are services? Every time you ride a bus, visit your doctor, or deal with your bank; you're using a service.  Services consist of multiple, interconnected interactions between customer and organisation.  Service design crafts all of these interactions, organises them to work in harmony, and creates the back end processes and systems necessary for service delivery and administration.

Services that are well designed to meet customers' needs are more enjoyable, meaningful and profitable.  Services that don't do a good job of meeting customer needs are frustrating to use, and ultimately not good for business.
